First Regional Conference: Applying WEAP as a Decision Support System (DSS) for Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM), 25-27 May 2009, Sednaya, SYRIA

 

 

 

 

 

After the official opening by the ACSAD director general, Dr. Saleh, the Syrian Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reforms, Dr. Safer and the German Ambassador, Dr. Reinicke about 120 representatives of Ministries from the ACSAD-countries and water specialist from Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, Palestine, Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Oman, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Ethiopia, Iran, Turkey, Georgia, Germany, France, Ireland, USA and Mexico discussed 30 scientific papers and case studies presented at the conference.

 

The effort of ACSAD, BGR, SEI, UNEP and UNESCO to organize and sponsor this conference was highly appreciated by all participants. Beside the direct exchange of ideas the conference was an important step towards more regional networking among the user community and to share experiences, knowledge and best practices among everybody.
