DSS-Training (WEAP-MODFLOW)
DSS-training workshops
To disseminate the DSS in the
region, the project organizes and funds training workshops in DSS. In the
current phase workshops have been conducted in Morocco, Jordan and Syria with
participants coming from Syria, Jordan, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia and
Morocco. A list of initiated applications can be seen

contact us directly via email.

September 2-6, 2007, Damascus, SYRIA
February 11-15, 2008, Marrakech, MOROCCO
March 9-13, 2008, Amman, JORDAN
April 21-25, 2008, Agadir, MOROCCO
Target Group:
Participants from water resources/ water supply/ water research institutions in
the Arab League countries, with a calibrated MODFLOW model, bringing along
the MODFLOW2000 model and all relevant input data, climate, recharge,
abstractions,....
Participants don’t
have to be modelers, however they should have knowledge of all the input
parameter especially the recharge assumptions, basic GIS-skills, and a first
insight into WEAP (fulfilled at least all the exercises of the WEAP
–

downloadable from www.weap21.org).
Program:
•

days general introduction into WEAP21 and the linkage to a MODFLOW2000
groundwater flow model.
•
3
days working with own data, design own WEAP model and link it to own MODFLOW2000
model
Prerequisites:
Participants should bring a laptop with all relevant digital model data stored
on it, and respective software installed:

EXCEL, ACCESS,
GIS,…

should be downloaded from
www.weap21.org
and freely licensed through the respective waiver form for the participant’s
institution. A tutorial can be downloaded from the same website and the
respective exercises have to be fulfilled before the workshop
